Best of the BestI had absolutely no idea what to expect when I got 'London Bridge' in my mailbox many months ago. Little did I know, 'The Dutchess' would be my favorite CD of the year. Fergie showed just how tight her pipes are, and really spans different genres. Impressive Fergie Ferg!
Most UnderratedParis Hilton-- So most peope considered her album a joke, BUT if you were someone who generally likes pop music (and was able to get beyond the fact that it was Paris Hilton, if it bothered you, which to me it did NOT), this was one damn good cd. Paris got some of the best producers and the songs on the album were catchy and fun to listen to. I'm not saying this is a masterpiece of art, however, for what it was I give it two thumbs up! (DON'T BE SUCH A SNOB -- GIVE IT A SHOT)
Most Overplayed Song (In a good way)Nelly Furtado, 'Promiscuous' - I know, I know, this was played just TOO much, BUT everytime i hear it STILL, i love it.
Most Overplayed Song (In a bad way)Nickelback. Nuff said. (actually -- I lied, throw Hinder in there too!)
Best Saturday NightIt's not ALL about the big leagues. Enter, The Screaming Nudes -- This Jersey based bar cover band my have been one of the best additions to my life this past year! Most Excited AboutSo this year, semi-against my will, I started watching American Idol, and of course I ended up becoming a die hard fan. I admit when Chris Daughtry got the boot, I was mildly devastated. That got all better when Chris started his new band and they came out with one of the best CDs of the year. This thing is a SOLID listen, Idol fan or not, get this on your iPod TODAY.
Best NewbieEvery year there's an artist/group that really hits it out of the park on their first try. Case in point -- The Fray. 'How to Save A Life' is one of the rare CDs where I can put it in, and legit play through the ENTIRE cd, no skipping, no yawning, its just all around awesome. Simple, but really meaty. And they're really nice guys on top of that. High five for The Fray!
Biggest Sad FaceNothing new from Alanis Morissette this year :(
Best of 2006 for 2007It took me a while to come around to Gwen's stuff the first time around, but for her latest she had me at first yodel. 'The Sweet Escape' is just a fresh album, Gwen experimented with different sounds and styles but she really nails it and has a lot of fun doing it.
Biggest WTF?! of 2006So FYI, in case you didn't know, Tupac came out with another CD. He was "died" 10 years ago. You KNOW Tupac and Elvis are on some tropcial island drinking pina coladas and laughing about this while their unnamed Swiss bank accounts grow more and more.
PS.
Whoever did the Tupac spoof where he talks about myspace etc. I LOVE YOUSHOULDA Been a Hit in 2006Staind's 'Everything Changes' may be one of the best songs I've ever heard, 2007 may make everyone wiser, but I definitely played this song all out in 2006. Listen. Love it.
SHOULDN'T Have Been a Hit in 2006Nelly, 'Grillz.' ugh. you're gross. stop it.
Biggest WHO F&$*# CARES of 2006I don't care if Britney Spears wants to parade around down lettin' her business hang out. Maybe she was hot, MAYBE she forgot her underwear, and frankly I don't care. I wish the paparazzi would spend less time lunging their cameras up Brit's skirt, and more time taking pics of K-Fed at Wal*Mart. Now THAT's hyterical.
Looking forward to in 2007-New Kelly Clarkson, Fall Out Boy, ALANIS MORISSETTE (please for the love of God, give me some new music!), Britney Spears??
