AFI

A.F.I. December Underground

Reviews

After hitting the mainstream with 2004's "Sing the Sorrow," nabbing a the MTV2 award for their video "Girl's Not Grey," then touring non-stop, AFI hit the mainstream even harder with Decemberunderground. Combining their hard-core history with their advanced musicianship and lyrics that make Robert Smith cry, this album takes AFI to a new level of excellence - songs "Miss Murder," "Love Like Winter," and "Summer Shudder" mash together influences from across the spectrum without being disjointed or showy.

I actually love AFI, I didn't consider them as one of the best cds of 2006, but I can see it. I actually have liked all the singles that I've heard, also, I love their style.

  • OMG! i luv the song "Miss Murder" but i dont really kno AFI that well!

AFI is definately up there with My Chemical Romance, but I don't understand why they didn't make it up to the best album nominations. If they were to be nominated for best song, it would have to be for "Endlessly She Said", but that's in my opinion. ^__^

Under the Iron Sea

Keane

Reviews

Another solid album from the Cold Play wanna bees. All snarkiness aside, I really like Keane. This album, like their debut, is solid to the end. Despite the fact that they sold out to be on 'The Lake House' soundtrack, I'm still a fan. It's a little darker than their first album (good) with some great ballads and piano work. Nicely done.

BTW - should I know the album above? Never heard of 'em.

This is a good cd, but as a person who loves Keane, this cd touch me the way the first one did. However, the vocals always get me. The gent who sings lead has to have some of the best pipes in modern music today.

Living With War

Neil Young

Neil Young - Living With War

Reviews

Neil Young is still kicking ass, and he's a lot more ballsy than most people half his age. "Living With War" is a scathing, yet hopeful reflection on what it means to live in a war-based culture. It received 3 Grammy nominations: Best Rock Album, and "Lookin' For A Leader" was nominated for Best Rock Song and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance. Don't miss this one.

Good cd. I enjoy Neil Young. He pretty much talks the talk and walks the walk. However, I wouldn't go with it being the best. Although, I'm sure he'll win some awards.

Everything All The Time

Band of Horses
Band of Horses - Everything All The Time

Reviews

A polished album whose ebbs abd flows all conspire to evoke every emotion you could possibly handle in the legth of a single album. I've been listening to this album since it came out last spring and it still sounds fresh. It's delicate yet powerful, refined but honest. "Every occasion I'll be ready for a funeral." That line from the song 'funeral' still hits me in the gut like an actual loss every time I hear it. If you haven't heard this album you are seriously missing out.

It just claws it's way into your head, then bangs around in there for days at a time.

A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
Panic! At The Disco
Albums That Didn't Make the List but Should Have - Smear the Year

Reviews
BY FAR the BEST album of the year. Panic! has completely different sounds and sound like no one or thing else!

  • i luv panic! i like the songs "i write sins not tragedies" and "the only difference"
  • Yeah, even though the album was released in '05, P!ATD is still awesome. Loved it!
  • I love Panic! AT The Disco's music, with all the synthsizers, drums, violins, guitars, bass, piano, accordian and of course the lyrics and voice!!!!! Spencer, Jon, Brendon and Ryan deserve to be #1!!!! Panic! At The Disco

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I am, That's What I'm Not
Albums That Didn't Make the List but Should Have - Smear the Year
I'm suprised this didn't make the list since it is in the top 10 or #1 on most end of year lists. It's a great record, but like all of their fellow country men, Artic Monkeys are being left out here-- other groups like Razorlight, Kasabian, and The Kooks should be considered one of the best if not 'the' best of 2006. As a person who loves The Killers, I find that Kasabian and Artic Monkeys are pretty much my favs right now.

JERRY LEE LEWIS'
"LAST MAN STANDING"
BEST OLD FART COMEBACK OF THE YEAR

Some Hearts - Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood: "Some Hearts"

Carrie Underwood has the worst album out! i never liked her. She has a bad attitude and she wasnt that happy to win! I think she made the worst CD out!

Canyon Songs

Tony Lucca

Tony Lucca, back cover of Canyon Songs
Tony Lucca brings to the table a sense of something old yet very new to the music scene. Singer-songwriter, Lucca, is as organic as it gets. He is real; his words are of the everyday person.. not talking about how rich, how sexy, how "licious" or glamours life is for the singer. Lucca IS the everyday person and you can relate to his music and the words. His expression and emotion is often raw and there is real feelings behind the songs that he sings. If you check out nothing else... check out Canyon Songs.

A Public Affair

Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson's A Public Affair
A Public Affair is a disco-studded, stunningly entertaining, 13 song-slab of energetic white-girl pop. Other Simpson's discs have been forgettable, but this is an affair to remember.
-Tammy LaGorce-

Jessica Simpson co-wrote 9 out of the 13 songs of the record and seems unafraid to explore new genres, a remake of Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round", and some other songs, such as "If You Were Mine"(by the same composers of Simpson's 1st single "I Wanna Love You Forever"), "The Lover in Me" and "I Don't Want to Care" (produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis) make this CD my pick of the best CD of the year, followed closely by The Dixie Chicks' "Taking the Long Way" and JoJo's "The High Road."

What happened here??? This has been one of the greatest albums out this year by far and they get ROYALLY screwed. Nickelback deserved more credit than most on this dull list of poo..........
